I think its a song about a man, remembering the love he had for awoman now gone.It seems to me the other guy in the video is herboyfriend, and he is the best friend or other guy she runs to. Andhis feelings were far beyond that of hers, and she went back toher boyfriend. And now he watches her, and wonders if she thinksof him the way he dreams of being with her. He is trying to figureout why she chose the other guy over him, especially because hisfeelings are so strong and he wanted to give her the world. Andwithout her he is just empty and hollow. And only will he confesshis feelings when she has gone and past and he can honestly sayhow he felt which is why he says he will bear his soul, whenkneeling at her feet.

All right, lets do it... first of all it's necessary to realizethat James and the girl are in the some bedroom, the some room.The lyric talks about a love that is gone, James makes referenceto something that makes them apart, but in the lyric he doesn'tsay what it is ("did I disapoint you? or let you down?"), mas onthe official video clip we see that the girl was on their bed withanother guy, which makes imagine that she was unfaithful. My firstinterpretation about it is that they had something real strong, areal love and it finished when she betraied him, and now he wasthinking about suicide. Where did I get ir from? From the factthat he affirmates that he cannot live without her and on theChorus of the song he repeats all the time: "good bye my lover,good bye my friend". He says he will bare his soul and apologize(on his knees) for the suicide when they meet again after death,that's why he refer to it in the future and thats why he doesn'tsay it right know, because the suicide didn't happenedyet.

Well there's another viewpoint about this song. James isalready dead, and the memories of his girl with another man thatwe see on the clip are not memories but it's what is reallyhappening on the room, but James feel it but he cannot interfereon it 'cause he is just a ghost. Well thats the interpretationsthat I imagined about the song, pick up the one you think isbetter for you.
