The Parting Glass lyrics
Of all the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas, it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all
Chorus:
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
"Good night and joy be to you all"
Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
"Good night and joy be to you all"
(Chorus)
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
"Good night and joy be to you all"
(Chorus)
Good night and joy be to you all
Of all the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done

I think this lad is leaving his home place thinking of all the good and bad, yet wishes well and toasts all to good health and good life, accepting all that may come when he's gone.
I love the song, and the High Kings, wish more was available to us.
I think of feeling a little regret for some of the past you're not so proud of yet better things to come and a well wish to everyone and wanting good for all
