I Wanna Go Home lyrics
WANNA GO HOME(sloop john B)
Lonnie Donegan's version
We sailed on the ole John B
My granddaddy and me,
over the seven seas we did roam
we were Drinking all day, fighting all nights
welI feel so breakup, I wanna to go home
.....................................................................
so pull up the anchor chain
hoist up the big main sail
put down your helm and head right over the foam
I wanna go home
I wanna go home
I feel so broke up, I wanna to go home
I feel so broke up, I wanna to go home
......................................................................
Now the Captain's a wicked man
keeps drunk any time he can
he don't give a damn grandpappy and me
he knocks us about
and kicks us around
feel so broke up,
wanna go home
so pull up the anchor chain ...

I believe I heard an earlier version by lonnie with lyrics practically the same as the beach boys version where he says "my Grandfather and Me" but this version seems to have been lost for ever, pity, it was better than the one currently on his album,I believe I heard this earlier version on the late 50's, not 1960 onward as most threads seem to indicate.
