Here are the lyrics of "Years and Years Ago" as song by Tony Martin which is slightly different (and better to me) than the version sung by the Dinning Sisters:

The song is Serenata Rimpianto di Enrico Toselli. It was song in Italian by a number of tenors including Mario Lanza. It was song in English by a number of singers including Perry Como under the title of "Dreams and Memories." A different English version was song by the Dinning Sisters, Tony Martin, perhaps others under the title, "Years and Years Ago." All versions are found on You Tube.

At the age of 90, memories do not come back instantly.
However, luckily in this case, the title of the melody
did come back. This is commonly known as 'Toselli's
Serenade.' Perry Como made a recording which is
available to users but with different lyrics.

I listened to my Dinning Sisters recording of Years and Years Ago but they didn't record the last verse from "All too soon.../

My memory differs a bit with the lyrics as presented by someone else.
Vic Damone recorded this song although I don't know
when. What I remember is:
'Years and years ago, I dreamed I found my love.
Tears and tears ago imagination made you part of me.
And, darling, now at last I know the love that I
dreamed of.
Here, at last you're here as years and years ago I dreamed you'd be.
All too soon the ? for me of that sweetly blessed day.
It vanished that golden dream and brought me naught
but ?

Hopefully someone can locate the Vic Damone recording.
And, indeed, it is an old Italian classic but I'll
be darned if I could remember which one, though.
