Sleep lyrics

The evening hangs beneath the moon
A silver thread on darkened dune
With closing eyes and resting head
I know that sleep is coming soon

Upon my pillow, safe in bed
A thousand pictures fill my head
I cannot sleep my minds a flight
And yet my limbs seem made of lead

If there are noises in the night
A frighting shadow, flickering light
Then I surrender unto sleep

Where clouds of dreams give second sight

What dreams may come both dark and deep

Of flying wings and soaring leap

As I surrender unto sleep
As I surrender unto sleep

yeah i have to agree with Colyn. I have to play this song in band. My part is easy. 1st trombone. I would have to feel bad for the flutes

Eric Whitacre is AMAZING. I strongly agree with Colyn: that if you aren't in love with Whitacre's music you haven't heard it yet.

I strongly agree with Colyn!! I had never heard of him. My high school marching band played "Ghost Train" years ago and I wanted to know who wrote that. I found out years later and I came across the "Cloudburst" CD and feel in love with it!!

one of the most beautiful peices of music i have ever had the honor to perform. There are two kinds of people in the world, those who love whitacre's music and those who haven't heard it yet.
