The Fortune Teller: Romany Life lyrics
We have a home ‘neath the forest shades,
Never any other have we.
Never any other have we.
Our campfires glow in the nooks and glades,
Where our tents are white to see.
Where our tents are white to see.
Wand’ring ever here and there.
Our roof is the sky above Juche!
but the Romany eyes are rare,
And the Romany life is love.
Thro’ the forest, wild and free,
Sounds our Magyar melody;
Ever dancing, none can be
Half so merry as are we.
Thro’ the forest, wild and free,
Sounds the Magyar melody;
Ever dancing as they say,
None so merry, and none so gay.
Faster twirling! Juche! with leap and bound, Ho! Dance.
Ay, dance, Zigeuner to music’s sound;
Singing ever Juche! Our song is gay, Ho! sing,
Ay, sing, Zigeuner while ye may.
Thro’ the forest, wild and free,
Sounds our Magyar melody;
Ever dancing as they say,
None so merry, and none so gay.
Singing Romany, Ah!
Sighing Romany ne’er, ah!
Ah!
Thro’ the forest, wild and free,
Sounds our Magyar melody;
Ever dancing, none can be
Half so merry as lads of Romany.
None so gay as we,
The lads of Romany.
Eljen!
Eljen!
Ha!

I learned this beautiful song in fourth grade - P.S. 79 in Whitestone, New York, in 1939. I have been to Romania twice and return in eight weeks. My heart is in Romania; I will retire there in 2013.
Perhaps Brașov sau Constanța.
Am studiat limba Româna pentru sașe ani.
Acum I-am opzeci de ani!
