Augustin was a kind of clown singer in Vienna. It is said that when the
"Pest" disease spread over Vienna
some centuries ago, one night he came out of a pub drunk. He was so
drunk that he fell into a pit where many pest corpses were to be buried
and fell asleep there. When he woke up and got out again next morning,
he wrote this song.
