Although Fannie Flagg did not do a lot of cooking, she decided to write and publish a cookbook for a variety of reasons. First, she decided she could be considered and expert on food. She loves to eat; she loves pictures of people eating. She also considers herself an expert on food because she has eaten out almost every day of her life. Another reason she wanted to do the cookbook is because ever since the book and movie version of Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Café were released she has been asked by many people if there really was a Whistle Stop Café. She wanted people to know it was her aunt Bess’s Irondale Café and that, although it has new owners, it is still open for business. Finally, she talks about how it seems everyone is mad at someone or screaming bout something or someone, and she just wanted to help people be as calm and happy as possible. Her happiest times seem to revolve around meals. She wanted everyone to have some happy times. This cookbook was published to make people happy and help them enjoy food and life.
